Maundene Weekly
________________________
Dear Parents/Carers,
Year 6 headed off on Monday to their PGL residential trip for the week - they have had an amazing time....if not a little wet at times! Lots of activities were participated in and lots of fears were overcome throughout the week. The Twitter updates have been phenomenal and I know many parents have expressed their appreciation of this. A big thank you to Mrs O'Connor, Mrs Rattle, Miss Byrne, Mrs Eden and Mrs Lovell for giving up some much of their time, energy and sleep to make this trip possible. Without the dedication of staff these trips would not be possible. We are sure that the children will all sleep well this weekend but will have lots of tales to share with everyone.
Year 5 started their swimming lessons and are already make rapid progress - five more lessons to go next week and we are sure that even more progress will be made. Thank you to all the parents and carers for sending in the correct swim kit every day. As we plan for the future and whether we have the pool again, we would appreciate any feedback from parents. Please send this feedback into the normal office email address.
Year 4 have been busy looking at a variety of sources in history and discussed what is the difference between primary and secondary sources. They thought carefully about the reliability of each source and debated about how reliable they were.
Year 3 have been busy furthering their understanding and learning about rocks and investigated how they are formed. They did this by using cut up sweets and added pressure to observe the impact. Great fun was had by all and this built on their previous science lessons from the start of this term.
Year 2 were able to watch back their dance routines and give helpful feedback to each other to improve even more. They were supportive of each other and showed great relationship skills. Well done for working together to make your performance even better.
Year 1 had their first Learning with your Child today and worked with their adults on phonics activities. It was lovely to see so many parents attend despite the awful weather we had! We hope this allowed you to understand some of the learning happening in the classroom.
Year R enjoyed their first 'Fine Motor Thursday' and engaged in many different activities within the provision. They participated in games with the adults, used the beads to improve their threading skills and used tweezers to move items from one pot to another. The children had great fun and we look forward to seeing which activities make an appearance next week.
Have a lovely weekend and see you all on Monday.
Miss Capes, Mrs Jackson and the Maundene Team

Please can you ensure you are not parking across driveways or in allocated bays. We strongly encourage people to if you can or park in Morrisons car park and walk up to school.
Please can we ask for donations to be handed into school on Friday 5th October in preparation for Harvest Assembly which will take place on Monday 7th October. This year we will be donating all that we receive to the Medway Food Bank to help our local community.
