“There are so many beautiful reasons to be happy"
Dear Parents/Carers,
Year 6 have started their swimming lessons and have already made great progress. They have been practising various strokes and also using their water safety skills throughout the week. The children have adapted to the new routines very quickly and this has ensured they are making the most of their time slot and having at least 40 minutes in the pool each day.
Year 5 engaged in a range of activities during Mental Health day and drew images of things that make them happy - they learnt the importance of having a happy mind and also talking through their feelings if they need to. They also worked cross-curricular using their geography books to help inform their plan in English all about natural disasters. We look forward to reading their information texts when they have been completed.
Year 4 also engaged in mental health activities this week following their assembly with Mrs Rattle on Thursday. They all wore brightly coloured tops to make them feel happy. They enjoyed mindfulness colouring and calming music in their classroom throughout the day.
Year 3 have been learning their times tables through songs this week - and even trying some of the trickier ones like the 8 times tables! They have also been working on their computing learning about input and output vocabulary. They then created their own devices and explained the output and input of the device designed.
Year 2 have been working hard in maths identifying addition and subtraction calculations using fact families. They then used the progress line to help them self-assess their understanding. Robins class also showcased their learning from this term in our first class assembly of the year - they did so well and we thank parents for taking the time to come to watch this.
Year 1 have enjoyed learning about World Mental Heath day and took part in a variety of activities including breathing techniques and mindfulness. They have also been creating beautiful pieces of art using coloured card and using the foreground and background techniques.
Year R have been talking about their feelings this week and what they can do to help them if they have any uncomfortable feelings. They thought about and shared things that make them happy. They also shared some lovely stories about mental well-being. The children have also been enjoying using the new sensory circuits in the middle classroom of their area.
Have a lovely weekend and see you all on Monday.
