DRAFT Dynamic Logo for Gaming Company
Mini Project
You are to design and develop a dynamic logo. You will need to come up with a name for your company first and then use Adobe Illustrator to design the logo. From there you will then take your logo into Adobe After Effects to make it move. You may wish to also add sound to your composition.
Tasks:
1) With others in your class come up with ideas for what your gaming company could be called. Select one and share it with the class.
2) Learn the basics of Illustrator using the tasks below, by the end of the lessons you should be able to do the following skills:
Draw shapes
Change stroke and fill
Combine shapes with the pathfinder tool
Create freeform paths and shapes with the Paintbrush tool
Edit paths with Direct Selection tool
Use the Text tool
Create cool effects with the Brush tool
Export your image as a PNG
3) Design 3 potential logos in Illustrator, ask your friends (end-users) which one is their favourite and then select one as your final design.
4) Learn the basics of Adobe After Effects using the tasks below, by the end of the lessons you should be able to do the following skills:
Create a composition
Animate an object along a path
Fade an object in and out
Rotate an object
Zoom
Use text effects
5) Import the logo you have selected into After Effects and animate it.

Illustrator skills for logo design:
Getting started with Adobe Illustrator
Learn the basics of Illustrator and create an A4 sized (21cm x 29.7cm) art board to use for the following tasks.
Drawing shapes
Learn how to draw shapes and play around with drawing a range of different shapes (at least 6).
Task:
Draw a street scene using ONLY the Shapes tools
Use at least 3 different shapes
Pathfinder tool
Learn how to use the pathfinder tool and play around with combining and cutting out different shapes to make new ones.
Task:
Draw a nature scene using ONLY the Shapes tools and the Pathfinder
Use at least 2 different pathfinder modes
The Paintbrush tool and editing Paths
Task:
Draw an animal in it's home using ONLY the Brush and Pathfinder tools
You must use Fill, Stroke and the Pathfinder at least once each
Text tool
Task:
Create a piece of Visual poetry
You must use: Colour, Size, Font and either Area type or Type on a path.

Adobe After Effects
Adobe After Effects is a digital visual effects, motion graphics, and compositing application. You will be using it to animate your logo.
Task One: Getting a shape to move
Create a new composition and get a shape to move along a path.
Challenge: Can you change the centre anchor point of the object?
Task Two: Rotating a shape
Adding onto the composition you made in task one, get the shape to rotate.
Task Three: Scaling a shape
Adding onto the composition you made in task one get the shape to zoom in and out.
Challenge: Can you get the shape to fade in and out while it is zooming in and out?
Task Four: Rendering your animation
For your practice tasks export them as an animated GIF.
For the final composition export it as a MP4 file (H.264).
Note: If there is not enough space in your documents (H:Drive) then save it to the hard drive of the computer (D:Drive) or a flash drive and back it up on the Google Drive.

Task Six: Adding Audio & Text
You can use After Effects with Premier Pro using a 'dynamic link' to add titles and audio. We call this a 'work flow' when you pass data between programs.
