Task 1 - Moodboard on existing WebXR applications
Create a collage of existing WebXR experiences, use the links below to help
Task 2 - Defining the project:
Describe what the purpose of the project is
What are you going to make?
Why are you going to make it?
How are you going to make it?
Where are the people situated who are going to use this application?
Where will the application be stored/ accessed?
When does the design and finished application need to be completed.
Who is your target audience?
List the requirements of your end-users (functional & aesthetic). Should have about 6 requirements.
Identify and explain relevant implications and how you are going to address them in the design of your outcome.
Visit the implications page of the Technology for help with this
Get the teacher to check this before moving on to the next task.
Task 3 - Research & Investigation into design conventions
Research what is Visual Hierarchy and how its principles apply to web design.
Research current design trends for the web.
Research 3 existing WebVR websites and use annotated screenshots to show how they have applied visual hierarchy and design trends to the site.
Identify at least 3 positive things you will try in the next stage and 1 thing you will avoid doing
Initial design ideas
Sketching ideas:
Sketch at least 2 different low-fidelity designs of what the landing page could look like/ function. Including any modals or animated navigation.
Annotate your designs to make it clear how design conventions have been applied to the designs.
End-user feedback
Gain end-user feedback and select the best elements to develop in the third design
Refine the design ideas/ sketches
Based on how you have applied design conventions and the end-user feedback you gained select the best bits of your initial designs and use it to sketch a third design which you will then make a digital model of and refine further.
Creating a model/ prototype of your design
Create a digital model using the sketch you made in the previous task.
Gain feedback from end-users and use the feedback to help you trial changes and refine the design. Things you could try,
Colours
Fonts
Positioning of elements
Improving how you have applied design conventions
While you are trialling, continuously check in with your end-users and use their feedback to help improve the design.
3. Record the feedback and developments in your google slide.
It is up to you which application you use to model it. You could choose from,
Final Design
Presentation of the final design
Present the final version of the model using screenshots
Make any notes of how parts function if it is not clear.
Gain and record final end-user feedback
Evaluation
Evaluation
The appropriateness of the design is explained, with reference to the purpose, end-user requirements and design conventions.
Explain how the chosen design uses appropriate design conventions.
Justify how the functional and aesthetic features of the outcome would address relevant implications and the requirements of the end-users and uses appropriate design conventions.
The justification should include evidence from, testing, trials and end-user feedback.
