2.8 Assessment Resources
AS91897 - Use Advanced processes to develop a digital technologies outcome (6 credits)
Setting up your site
Setting up the project
Set up a Google slide for this assessment
Copy over the following from the previous assessment (AS2.2)
Purpose
Requirements
End-users
Final Design
Create a new Replit project
Set up your GitHub repository
You may also want to plan out a more detailed plan for the VR environment to help you with position elements.
Project Management
Set up a Trello board to help you manage the development of your project -
You must use the board to pass. How well you use it will get you a M or E grade.
Break down your project into tasks (components) that build on each other to create the whole outcome (e.g. setting up files and folders, editing images)
Each week (sprint) you will select which tasks you need to have completed by the end of the week and will move the cards accordingly.
At the end of the week (sprint), you will create a column to show what you actually achieved during that sprint by moving the relevant cards there and take part in the reflection activity in class.
While you are developing the outcome, use version controls (e.g. Save versions of your outcome) when you complete a stage.
Getting started with Trello - Overview
Relevant Implications
Revisit the implications you identified, explained and addressed in the previous assessment.
Copy them across to this assessment and make any modifications to reflect this part of the assessment.
Note: These are likely to be the same as the ones you addressed when you were designing the webVR application in 2.2, so you could re-use and alter/ add to them how you will address them in this part of the project.
For more information on implications in Digital Technology visit the web page we have made dedicated to them.
Developing the digital outcome and component testing and trialling
As you develop your outcome you need to show the trialling of different components and select the best one for use. This should include different ways of doing something or solving a problem and trialling to improve the look/ functionality.
At the end of each stage/ component, you should save a version.
Throughout this stage, get end-user feedback to help you make decisions about what the most suitable components are, and to help you refine your outcome. How well you do this will affect whether you get an A, M or E grade.
To record your development you have two options
You could record the development using screenshots/ recordings and notes in the Trello cards on your Trello board using the attachment and comment functions.
OR
You could record the development in a table like this - Copy of the table
Ideas of components that could be trialled:
Photospheres
Colours, positioning, sizing, rotation of 3D models and assets
Camera position/ animation
Text sizes/ fonts
Layout of gallery
Images used
Controls
Different ways of doing things (e.g. Importing models or using primitives)
Achieved (Must do): Show the development of the component by taking screenshots, with brief annotations as to the decisions that were made and why.
For Merit /Excellence:
Show evidence of trialling a number of options for components to help with selecting which one is most suitable for example,
Trial more than one different way to solve the same sub-problem and select the best.
Trial to improve look/ functionality
There is evidence that the information gained from trialling components was used to improve the outcome.
This is more than just bug fixes – the outcome’s functionalities should be enhanced as a result of the improvement
Improvements to the outcome as a whole have been made based on testing and end-user feedback with reasons why.
Testing the website as a whole
Test your application appropriately, checking everything loads in a timely manner, spelling and grammar is correct, links and controls work and that you have met the requirements established at the start of the assessment.
Make improvements where necessary - show before and after screenshots.
Present your functioning website to your end-users and gain feedback.
Make improvements where necessary - show before and after screenshots.
Final Testing & Evaluation (could be a verbal presentation)
Show the outcome functioning as intended on phone and PC - you could do this through a screen recording or screenshots.
Write/ present a reflection to discuss how the information from planning, testing and trialling of components assisted in the development of a high-quality outcome, that meets end-user requirements and addresses relevant implications. This should include,
Annotated screenshots of the changes made throughout the process and how feedback from the end-users and the testing process helped to refine the outcome.
Screenshots of the Trello board with a reflection on how it guided the development process and helped with getting components completed on time and meeting deadlines.
