We have considered what it means to show respect to others in our school community.
We worked collaboratively to generate a range of words before completing our own acrostic poem.
We have thought what it means to be part of a team in the classroom and when in PE.
We used a Diamond Nine to order the nine things needed to make a good team.
We considered who in our school helps us learn. We thought about a range of people; adults and children and not just those who work in our classroom.
As part of this weeks discussion we focused on the rights that we have as children and those that effect us in schools.
We considered what rights we thought were most important and shared our ideas to the class.
We discussed that we all have a voice and should be allowed the opportunity to have a say in what is important to us in school such as the class charter on behaviour.
Wee thought about what we would want as rewards and consequences if we had the chance to write the rules.
We used drama to consider a range of actions in and out of the classroom setting and we thought of an appropriate reward or consequence.
We reflected on our class charter to help which we can use to support each other on our learning journey. We focused on our whole school behaviour expectations and discussed ways we can support each other in the classroom through our actions.
On Tuesday 10th October, we thought about mental health, what this may look like, how we can look after our own mental health and how we can help others.
Our main take away was the importance of talking.
We enjoyed wearing our clothes which were bright and colourful which we used a s a tool to begin our discussions. We read the story Whirly, Twirly Me which was about a young girl who talked to her Mum and she started to feel better.
We have considered what it means to be unique and how we are different to other people.
We thought about wht people may be judged on such as hair colour, skin colour, academic ability. We discused how we don't plan to have biases but sometimes they can occur in everybody.
We reflected on why it's important not to judge people based on how they look.
Anti-Bullying Week was covered across a range of subjects this week in Yr 4. We thought about it in our whole school assembly, read the story Wonder, consider what bullying can look like in person and online. What to do if we see bullying
We considered what bullying meant and discussed how we should not be discriminated. We thought about our protected characteristics and how these can be used as a judgement against people.
We considered the actions we should take if we saw bullying - being the bystander.
We took part in the Children in Need challenge to complete a number of burpees.
We discussed the importance of raising money for children across the country.
We considered what it is that makes us look at people in certain ways. In groups, we considered if it was right to make judgements on other people.
What do we based our judgements on when we meet someone for the first time?
Problem solving
We watched a video to help us understand why some people may find it hard to help a friend who is being bullied.
It doesn't matter who it is, we must stand up to all bullies.
We thought about the phrase
"Stand up not stand by"
We must stand up to bullying and bullies and not stand by and watch it happen.
In this lesson we reflected on what makes us special. This included our appearances, our personality characteristics and our we also discussed our families. We reflected on how we are all the same and that this makes us special.
After considering what makes us special, we reflected on our friends. We shared ideas on a Jamboard and explained our ideas as part of our feedback.
We considered why people have hopes, dreams and make resolutions. We were able to suggest hopes and dreams we may have for the future.
We thought about what "broken dreams" means and how this can affect everyone. We linked these to be dreams we have for the future, dreams for our passions and for at school.
Using the lyrics from one of the Jigsaw programme, we considered what we can do to help avoid disappointment and what we can do if faced with challenges.
We thought about what disapoointment might be when we thought about our hopes and dreams. We read this text to help us realise that although things might be hard and we might not succeed at first we should always try and to not give up.
We considered why people may have new dreams or may adapt the dreams they already have. We linked this to our previous work on overcoming challenges.
We thought of steps people could follow to help follow their new dreams.
This year the theme was "My Voice Matters".
We thought about how important it is to talk to others when we need help and how communicating with our friends and trusted adults can help to lift our spirits.
Our voice can make a difference at school, home and the local community. We can make a difference.
We explore what makesa good friend and where we know our friends from. We discussed that its ok that we know friends from different places and that we may have friends of other places that isn't school.

people think it makes them look good
people will like them

We learnt the liver is one of the most affected organs. The liver helps to get rid of toxins and alcohol is a major toxin. - Jacob
What would you do if somebody approached you in the park and said they could buy you and your friends alcohol.
