Researching
Today we research different plant-based foods. We had to find different food that were grown in different countries and climates and how these can be used in different meals.
NC: use research and develop design criteria to inform the design of innovative, functional, appealing products that are fit for purpose, aimed at particular individuals or groups
Designing and planning
After we had researched, we need to plan our healthy meal and give reasons and explainations to why we are using certain foods and where these have come from.
NC: generate, develop, model and communicate their ideas through discussion, annotated sketches, cross-sectional and exploded diagrams, prototypes, pattern pieces and computer-aided design
Making:
We had to select the right tool - knife, chopping board and plate from a selection of equipment and tools to make sure we had the right tool for the right job. We then learnt how to grip the fruit correctly by using the bridge and claw grips. Then we had to select the right fruit from our plan and slice them carefully, without taking too much of it as we had to share the fruit. After that, we had to arrange the fruit on our bread and make sure that it was laid out correctly but also looking appetizing.
NC: select from and use a wider range of tools and equipment to perform practical tasks [for example, cutting, shaping, joining and finishing], accurately
Evaluating:
After we had made our sandwich we need to try each ingredient separately and score it out of 5 for different things, taste, sweetness, crunchiness etc. We then had to try the whole sandwich together and then evaluate it.

prepare and cook a variety of predominantly savoury dishes using a range of cooking techniques
understand seasonality, and know where and how a variety of ingredients are grown, reared, caught and processed.
Module 6 - Technology
Researching and evaluating
Today, we research different types of technology linked to various forms of communication. We then selected a particular form of technology and evaluated it and compared it to particular forms of communication we use currently.
