Welcome! This guide covers everything you need to know to create your self-introduction video for your HouseSigma agent profile. A short video is your best chance to show potential buyers and sellers who you are — beyond the numbers on your profile.
One important note before you start: buyers and sellers often watch several agent videos in a row. Your goal is to stand out and show what makes you different. Don't try to follow a formula — be yourself.
1. Technical Requirements
These are the minimum standards your video must meet to be approved.
Video
Length: 30–90 seconds
Orientation: Landscape (horizontal)
Resolution: 1080p minimum
Format: MP4 or MOV
Audio
Quality: Clear, no background noise
Volume: Consistent, audible without straining
Lighting & Framing:
Lighting: Face well-lit, no harsh shadows
Framing: Head-and-shoulders or waist-up
2. Content Guidelines
Your video should include these four points at minimum:
Years of Experience — How long you've been in real estate.
Primary Area of Service — The city, neighbourhood, or region you primarily serve. Be specific.
Specializations — What types of properties or transactions you specialize in.
Languages Spoken — All languages you can conduct business in. If multilingual, say each language aloud.
These help viewers assess fit — cover whatever feels natural:
Working Style — How do you communicate with clients? Hands-on daily updates, or big-picture and milestone-driven?
Typical Client — Who do you work best with? First-time buyers, investors, families, downsizers?
What Makes You Different — What's one thing clients consistently say about working with you? What's your philosophy?
Personal Connection — Did you grow up in the area you serve? Is there a story that connects you to real estate?
❌ Claims about other agents or brokerages — Do not compare yourself to or criticize competitors.
❌ Guarantees or promises — Do not guarantee sale prices, timelines, or results.
❌ Pricing discussions — Do not discuss commission structures, fees, or pricing.
❌ Unprofessional language — No swearing, controversial topics, or political/religious statements.
❌ Direct contact information — Do not include any personal or direct contact details. This includes phone numbers, email addresses, personal websites, social media handles (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.), or any other method that would allow a client to contact you directly outside of HouseSigma's platform. All client inquiries must go through your HouseSigma profile.
❌ Excessive text overlays, graphics, or music — Keep it simple and focused on you. A subtle name/title card or quiet background music is fine. Avoid heavy editing, logos, or special effects that distract from your message.
❌ Third-party branding — Do not wear or display logos from other brokerages or brands.
3. Presentation & Attire
Wear what you'd wear to meet a client. There is no dress code — wear what represents you and your working style. A suit is fine. Business casual is fine. Smart casual is fine. The important thing is that you look like yourself, not like you're wearing a costume.
A few practical notes:
Avoid busy patterns that can create visual artifacts on camera.
Avoid clothing with logos from other brands or brokerages.
Speak naturally, make eye contact with the camera, and be yourself.
4. How to Submit Your Video
Record your video following the guidelines above.
Upload the video file to Google Drive.
Share the file with Michael Carney at MichaelCarney@HouseSigma.com — make sure the sharing permission is set to "Anyone with the link can view" or specifically shared with that email address.
Send a quick note to Michael letting him know your video is ready for review.
5. What Happens After Submission
Your video will be reviewed by HouseSigma management against three criteria:
Content Coverage — Did you cover all four required points?
Professionalism — Are you presenting yourself professionally?
Video Quality — Does the video meet the technical requirements?
Your video will be uploaded to the HouseSigma YouTube channel and embedded on your profile page. You'll be notified when it's live.
You'll receive specific feedback on what needs improvement. You can re-record and resubmit — there's no limit on attempts.
Please allow up to 5 business days for review.
