Course overview - Study Period 1
REVISION
During the final half term before their exams begin, learners will focus on general revision. We will spend time ensuring that they have a working knowledge of all of the close study products, to include:
Television (His Dark Materials and Doctor Who)
Online, Social and Participatory Media (Marcus Rashford and Kim Kardashian)
Video Games (Kim Kardashian: Hollywood and Lara Croft Go)
Newspapers (Daily Mirror and The Times)
Magazines (Tatler and Heat)
Advertising (OMO, Galaxy and Represent)
Radio (Radio 1 and Kiss Breakfast)
Film (Black Widow and I, Daniel Blake)
Music Video (Arctic Monkeys and Blackpink)
Learners must have a comprehensive understanding of each of these products and ways in which they can be interpreted and analysed through the Media frameworks. We will spend time revising Media theory, ensuring that learners feel able to respond to a range of questions about all of the products and incorporate theory and subject terminology into their responses. Finally, learners will revise exam technique, focusing on ways to successfully respond to the demands of different questions, and how to structure an essay response for a 20 mark question.
