Course overview
Learners are now well into their non exam assessment (NEA). They have planned their own work using their gained knowledge about different materials and equipment and have all had to identify the need of a product for a particular client.
There will be a full D&T practical day in the first half term where all learners will be working solely on their practical prototypes, allowing them a five hour block, dates will be shared with learners soon. We will then be following a revision schedule along with exam question preparation techniques.
Key Concept:
Client based iterative design & visual problem solving
Assessment Points:
In line with AQA guidance we can only give generic feedback and guidance and address any mis-conceptions and prep as a whole class. We have given the class the mark scheme and example past NEA’s provided by AQA so they can see what is required and how this can be done meeting the various grade boundaries.
Guidance:
The timeline for the NEA has allowed for some final modelling, using a variety of methods to test their designs and investigating materials and components, and this will lead into their manufacturing specification and then their practical (section E), before finally moving onto the final evaluation of their prototype (section F).
