Course overview - Study Period 1 and 2
During the first half term, C11 Historians will be examining what life was like under Norman rule, as well as carrying out an investigation into their Historical site study. For this year, C11 have to examine the causes and consequences of the Harrying of the North on Yorkshire. They will study the rebellions that triggered the systematic destruction of Yorkshire by William the Conqueror, and compare the effectiveness that this had on controlling the Anglo Saxon population in comparison to other factors such as castle building, changes to the law and religious changes enacted by the Normans. This topic will be the focus of a 20 mark essay which will be in both their mock exam in December as well as in the final summer exams.
Once this essay is completed, learners will begin revision for their mock exams by revising the Medicine, Germany and Cold war topics.
