Course overview - Study Period 5
Learners will be spending this half term revising all areas of the syllabus for English Language and English Literature.
The individual class teachers will plan specifically according to the needs of the individual classes.
For English Language there will be a focus on reading for meaning, comprehension, analysis of structure and language, interpretation and evaluation. Learners will also be revising writing skills such as writing for specific purposes, audiences and formats, language and structural devices and strategies to improve their Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar.
For English Literature, there will be a focus on the key texts: poetry (anthology and unseen), A Christmas Carol, Macbeth and An Inspector Calls. Learners will be revising context for all these texts as well as developing their essay writing skills.
Assessment Points:
Learners will continue to write answers in class for which they will be given feedback. They will also be encouraged to complete past papers as part of their own revision.
Guidance:
Learners will receive guidance in a variety of ways. These include marked assessments, reports, verbal feedback, written feedback in books, 1:1 interaction, Google Classroom and whole class feedback.
