Contradiction

This project asked students to explore contradiction through visual art. Students created compositions that communicated two opposing ideas, emotions, or conditions existing simultaneously within the same image. Rather than simply illustrating opposites, students were challenged to create work where contradiction felt integrated, layered, and intentional. Themes ranged from confidence and insecurity to freedom and restriction, beauty and discomfort, and connection and isolation. Through open media exploration, students used composition, symbolism, contrast, and material choices to communicate the complexity of conflicting truths within a single artwork.
