Mrs. Quesada's Class
Week 33
Week 33
As we head into the last two months of school, be sure to read each item, to stay "in the know" of all that's going on!
***Our campus water will be cleaned this week! Please make sure your student has enough water with them from home!
We have field trip coming up on Monday! Your students have an important page that was sent home with them on Friday with lots of information.. On April 20th, we are going to the KC Bowling Alley for our "forces and motion" unit from 8:45-11. Students will still have time to order hotlunch in the morning before we leave, as we will be back to school before lunch time.
The 1st annual Ag Day at Hanford Christian is on April 21 from 9:45-11:45 AM. Students will have an opportunity to visit stations and learn about how Agriculture impacts our community. Ag West has sponsored t-shirts for each student, and they will be handed out on April 20. Please have your student wear their t-shirt on April 21 for Ag Day. Consider having your student wear sunscreen as the activities will all be outside. Students may wear hats outside during Ag Day activities.
Our Spring Music Showcase Concert is Thursday, April 23rd, at 6:30pm in the gym. Families just recently received an email from Mrs. Banta about connecting with her if you have an excused absence! BAND INSTRUMENTS must be on campus TUESDAY-FRIDAY for rehearsals/music classes. Doors open at 5:30pm. Students must go to their teacher's classroom between 5:30pm-5:45pm. Students will be dismissed at the end of the show and then parents/guests will be dismissed. Students must be checked out from their teacher/classroom after the show is over.
It would be highly beneficial to your student to be at school on both Wednesday, April 22nd and Thursday, April 23rd when we rehearse so they are successful for Thursday night's concert.
We like to celebrate the last 26 days of school in 5th Grade by doing an Alphabet Countdown. We celebrated "A" last week Friday! This week we have....
Monday- B is for Bowling (Science field trip)
Tuesday- C is for Cows (AG day)
Wednesday- D is for Drawing (We do different direct draws in class)
Thursday- E is for Extra Recess (5th grade will get to have some extra play time)
Friday- F is for fruit (Students get to try fruit they have learned about in their Esperanza Rising text)
Permission slips for the CVC 4th-6th grade track meet also came home on Friday! Please have your students turn these planning sheets along with your signature in by this Friday!
The test on all 50 states, capitals, and abbreviations happened on Firiday! Retakes for those who did not pass one of the following will be on Wednesday, April 22nd, during their lunch recess. See below for more info!
Labeling all 50 states on a map
Matching all 50 states to Capitals
Writing abbreviations for all 50 states
If a student did not pass with at least an 80% on any of these tests, that student will use their recess time for 3 days to study for the retake of that test. This will continue until all 3 tests are passed with an 80% or higher.
Your student has received all the information for their state project! Please make sure that your student has a tri-fold posterboard that can be used to begin their work. There will not be a lot of work time this week due to activities and schedule changes, but they are welcome to get started working in class when they are able, and definitely should be finding pictures and printing anything they want in color at home!

Matthew 13:15b-16
15b Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.
16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.
