Mrs. Quesada's Class
Week 21
Week 21
Each Friday, the 5th Grade is in charge of ice cream sales for the school. We would love parent volunteers to help oversee these sales. Parents that volunteer will need to be at school around 11:15 to prep for sales starting at 11:30 and are typically finished around 12:15. If you would be willing to help with these sales, please contact Mrs. Phillips (amalia.chavez2009@gmail.com) to sign up for a time!
Starting in Quarter 3, we are going to be implementing "the secrect student." A student from each 5th grade class will be randomly selected to be a secret student. The students will not know who is picked. As we go through our day, both teachers will watch that specific student, and see if they are following the 5th grade expectations for lesson times, independent work times, how they treat others, and their overall attitude in the classroom. If that student has shown that they have met those expectations, the student will be announced to the class at the end of the day, and they will get to put a bingo piece on our class bingo board. Once we get a bingo, the class will earn something of their choice. (Choices will be introduced to classes this next week.) IF the student does not meet the expectations for the day, the student is not announced to the class, and stays a mystery. However, teachers may use anonymous examples of the student's behaviors as examples to the class of how we are seeing expectations not being met. This is a way that Mrs. Barrios and I feel will make the students more aware of their actions and choices, and hopefully helps them to focus on the positve ways that they can be effective learners in our classroom environment.
MAPS testing begins this week! Make sure you 5th grader is ready to do their best to show how much they have grown in Reading and Language Arts!

PLEASE ASK your students if they need to be reading or filling out a form this three day weekend! The final date of this project is January 29th. Please email me if you have questions regarding books that need to be approved.
Here is the link to the "book sleuth sheet" that they need to complete once they finish a book.

22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
