Mrs. Quesada's Class
Week 4
Week 4
Parents: there is lots of information this week! Please read through carefully to best support your 5th grade student!
In order to help your 5th grader succeed, here are some things you can speak with them about each day!
Have your student look at their planner. Most evenings your student will have a math page that is due the following day. Check in with them to see if this assignment is complete. When the students work on their math, they should have out their math notes. These sheets are colored pages that will be in the math tab in their binders. These notes have similar problems to the problems they will have on their homework pages (which are black and white and will be in the student's homework folder.) When this homework is finished, please put the homework pages BACK INTO THE HOMEWORK FOLDER and the notes pages back in their Math tab in their binders. These steps will help you work together to make your student feel successful with math this year, and prepare them for junior high, as Mrs. Bergeman and Mrs. Clark keep math notes, as well!
Check in and ask if on their planner, they have any other in-class items that they did not finish in class (These things should be highlighted.) These items need to be completed and handed in the next day. As you have practiced in 4th grade, the students have spelling/vocabulary packets that are due after two weeks, and a memory verse test at the end of each week. Doing a bit of work on these assignments each night will help your students to feel less overwhelmed, and help them learn great study habits!
Look at the due dates written by the items in the right hand collumn of the planner assignments. These dates are written to help your student prioritize what to work on, as they know the due dates. Because of specials, we try to maximize our class time in order to get as far in the subject material as we can. We are working very hard with our amazing fifth grade students and growing their organizational skills that will help them succeed in life!!
FACTS Family Portal links are sent to you by the office each week with a direct link to check your child's grades, and we will be teaching your 5th grader how to check their grades on their chromebook here at school! Please use this tool to look at grades and information about the assighments. If you portal is not working correctly, or have questions about notifications, please contact the office.
As teachers and parents, Mrs. Anker and I understand that the start of a new school year can bring anxiousness and worry to our students! What a great opportunity to grow them in their faith and remind them that God is always there for them in hardship and knows their hearts! Here are some verses you can look up with your student to guide them spiritually when things are feeling overwhelming with school!
Philippians 4:6–7 – Encourages turning anxiety into prayer with thanksgiving, promising a transcendent peace that guards your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
1 Peter 5:7 – Reminds believers to cast all their worries onto God because He cares for them.
Matthew 6:34 – Advises against worrying about tomorrow, noting that each day has enough trouble of its own.
Isaiah 41:10 – Offers reassurance not to fear because God is present, promising to strengthen, help, and uphold you.
We love and are praying for each 5th grader to see how God leads and grows them throughout this 5th grade year!
