Mrs. Quesada's Class
Week 29
Week 29
We are coming up on the last couple days of the third quarter! encourage your 5th grader to finsih strong, and keep that focus! Please be diligent in reminding your student to check their planners nightly for any assignment due dates, or upcoming quizzes/tests, and encourage them to stay organized and be ready for each class period, especially as we are teaching them more about how junior high will be! As we are continually working on organization and independence, this is such an important tool for your student to grow in using.
*Schedule change: Band will be on Monday from 12:30-1:10 this week and next week due to scheduling conflicts for Mrs. Banta (not Friday from 10-10:45) ! Your student left their instruments at school last Friday, but we just wanted to be sure to note the change for you.
For our Easter service project, HCS will be collecting money to donate to World Renew. “World Renew partners with local churches and organizations around the world to bring holistic programs that transform communities in every area of need. Our goal is systemic, generational change in five key areas: Peace and Justice, Community Health, Food Security, Economic Opportunity and Disaster Response.” From the About Us section of the World Renew website.
How can you participate? As a family, discuss what your goal is for donation. Encourage your children to participate in earning and the giving of their own money. Provide ways for them to earn money and talk about tithing part of it. Have them look for change around the house to donate. If you as parents would like to make a donation, also include your children in the discussion of what you will be donating and why. Teachers will be sharing this project and information about World Renew and the gift catalog on Monday and over the next three weeks. Donations (cash or check made out to HCS - you can get a donation receipt) will be accepted starting March 9 until March 20. You may send them in an envelope that is clearly marked “World Renew Donation” with your child to give to their teacher. The classroom teachers will be keeping track of donations and assisting the students in picking out what the class would like to “purchase” from the gift catalog. What each grade level purchased will be shared at Easter Chapel on March 25.
On March 25, our Chapel will be an ALL SCHOOL CHAPEL in preparing to celebrate our Savior's Death and Resurrection! You are invited to attend!

Mark 2:16-17
16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?" 17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
