Mrs. Quesada's Class
Week 29
Announcements
For our Easter service project, HCS will be collecting money to donate to World Renew. “World Renew partners with local churches and organizations around the world to bring holistic programs that transform communities in every area of need. Our goal is systemic, generational change in five key areas: Peace and Justice, Community Health, Food Security, Economic Opportunity and Disaster Response.” From the About Us section of the World Renew website.
How can you participate? As a family discuss what your goal is for donation. Encourage your children to participate in giving of their own money. Provide ways for them to earn money and talk about tithing part of it. Have them look for change around the house to donate. If you as parents would like to make a donation, also include your children in the discussion of what you will be donating and why. Teachers will be sharing this project and information about World Renew and the gift catalog on Monday and over the next three weeks. Donations (cash or check made out to HCS - you can get a donation receipt) will be accepted starting this Tuesday until March 22. You may send them in a bag or envelope that is clearly marked “World Renew Donation” with your child to give to their teacher. The classroom teachers will be keeping track of donations and assisting the students in picking out what the class would like to purchase from the gift catalog. What each grade level purchased will be shared at Easter Chapel on March 22.
Note to Parents: Students may bring a blanket, stuffed animal, or pillow to school on Monday and Tuesday for our City of Ember Read In!
The End of the Quarter is this Friday, March 15. Report Cards will be emailed home on March 22. Many of our 5th graders are left with few punches or "chances" on their quarterly punchcards with one week left of the quarter. Please be diligent in reminding your student to check their planners nightly for any assignment due dates, or upcoming quizzes/tests, and encourage them to stay organized and be prepared for each class period. As we are continually working on organization and independence, this is such an important tool to have. For any questions or concerns about our new Quarter three punchcard system click here. Coming up soon, students who have not received a citation or detention will be able to participate in a no-citation rewards event that the leadership team is planning. More information to follow. Beginning 4th quarter, we will be following a similar approach of the citation passes that the junior high students use. We will elaborate more on this next week, as well as explain our expectations to our 5th-grade students.

Matthew 6: 19-21
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
