Mrs. Quesada's Class
Week 32
Week 32
As we head into the last two months of school, be sure to read each item, to stay "in the know" of all that's going on!
The 1st annual Ag Day at Hanford Christian is on April 21 from 9:45-11:45 AM. Students will have an opportunity to visit stations and learn about how Agriculture impacts our community. Ag West has sponsored t-shirts for each student, and they will be handed out on April 20. Please have your student wear their t-shirt on April 21 for Ag Day. Consider having your student wear sunscreen as the activities will all be outside. Students may wear hats outside during Ag Day activities.
Ijeoma Nnadi, Kiki's Mom, is currently working toward her Master’s in Public Health. In the coming weeks, she will be introducing her nutrition education project, titled "Nourishing Bodies, Growing Faith." Mrs. Nnadi is partnering with the 4th and 5th grade classes to provide nutrition education and hands-on snack preparation lessons for the students. The goal of this project is to teach children how to prepare simple, healthy, and nourishing snacks while fostering lifelong healthy habits. Furthermore, as HCS looks to revive its garden, this project will create a wonderful opportunity for students to connect the foods they grow to the foods they prepare and eat, reinforcing the value of fresh, whole foods. These classes will last 5 weeks from 4/14-5/14, and be once a week per grade level. Be sure to ask your fifth grader about it!
This last week, parents were sent an email about bowling field trip, which will be on April 20th, from 9-11:30 AM. Our students get to see the theories of forces and motion in action, and practice some averaging math skills on this field trip! We are still in need of 1-2 more parent drivers, and you will need to be authorized as an approved school driver by the HCS office staff. If you are interested, please email me or Mrs. Barrios in order to get that paperwork in the office completed in time to be a part of the Bowling Day!
Our Spring Music Showcase Concert is Thursday, April 23rd, at 6:30pm in the gym. Families just recently received an email from Mrs. Banta about connecting with her if you have an excused absence!
We hope that all of the HCS community will come and enjoy the music that we have been working on this spring. Please invite your families and friends.
It would be highly beneficial to your student to be at school on both Wednesday, April 22nd and Thursday, April 23rd when we rehearse so they are successful for Thursday night's concert. *Please be sure 4th/5th graders have their recorders/band instruments and music for both days!I*
The CVC hosted 2026 4th-6th Track-meet is May 4, from 2-5 PM. More details on this to come!
The test on all 50 states, capitals, and abbreviations is coming soon. This will consist of 3 separate tests.
Labeling all 50 states on a map
Matching all 50 states to Capitals
Writing abbreviations for all 50 states
If a student does not pass with at least an 80% on any of these tests, that student will use their recess time for 3 days to study for the retake of that test. This will continue until all 3 tests are passed with an 80% or higher.
Our state research projects are underway!
Your student has a sheet on which they can take down important facts that they are researching about their state. Some research time will be given in class, but check in with your student how their research is coming along! Each student will need to bring a poster board with flaps (but no separated title pieces please!) Your student will be typing different paragraphs or titles to show information on their posters, but there will no formal written report, as this project is meant to challenge students to present what they know! Mrs. Barrios and I are able to print things out at school, but anything in color will need to be printed at home.
Make sure your student is taking some time each afternoon/evening to study spelling/vocabulary words and definitions, geography regions, and memory verses each night. Even if they are studying these during the school day, the extra time and practice is important to hone in their study skills and make them see that studying often does make a difference!
