Hello Bear Family,
Well, pat yourselves on the back because we made it to Spring Break! There is no doubt that the doldrums of winter take their toll on all of us emotionally, socially and physically, so we have all earned this break before finishing the year strong.
For our freshmen and sophomore parents, the time after Spring Break moves at break neck speed. We jump into our "testing" season, so our schedule sometimes differs and time is not on the students' side to bring grades up. Please take time over the break to talk with your teens about the importance of not giving up and working hard through the end of the year. Did you know that the majority of failing grades are due to students simply not attempting assignments, or worse, not turning in assignments at all?
If you have a junior and are not connected on Remind, now is the time! While I am not trying to rush time, all things "senior" actually start the spring before students' senior year. Get connected so you don't miss out on information and important deadlines.
Senior parents, I know you have been riding this roller coaster since August, so you know emotions are at an all-time high! I pray that you take the final weeks of your student's school journey and savor the moments, take pictures of experiences, and make a mental recordings of the sounds in your home. Exciting things are coming for our Class of 2024, and I am honored to walk with all of you.
Make it a great month, make good choices, and Go BEARS!
Mrs. Ramsey
Save yourself a trip back to school
IMPORTANT!! The weather is changing and shorts and skirts are being pulled out of the closets. Please remind your students about dress code so that you don't have bring a change of clothes back to the school for your teen. Please notice some of the popular brands of shorts and skirts are fine for after school, but not during the school day.
Wearing IDs is the expectations every day, all day. Lately, too many students are choosing to not follow this school rule. Consequences such as detentions or ISS can result from choosing to break school rules.
Please refer to the dress code (Handbook pg 8; to the side) and visible reminder (below).
One of ways to make good choices and be a leader is by making good choices each morning!

LEGACY Students got the opportunity to go to the Chick Fil A Headquarters in Atlanta. They enjoyed getting to see how operations begin, marketing behind Chick Fil A, and they got to see where the famous Chick Fil A commercials are filmed! They learned a lot and had a great time!
LEGACY students also hosted our Annual Just Bears event. This event is organized with the group Just People to have a day of fun, games, and fellowship with Just People, CBHS Special Education Students, and CBMS Special Education Students. This day is always highly anticipated, and is such a HUGE success!
Spring sports are in full swing. We've got Bears participating in Baseball, Golf, Lacrosse, Soccer, Tennis, and Track. All spring sport schedules can be found on our website, above on The Bluff Bulletin, on the Bear Weekly that is published each week, and on all forms of social media. This is also the perfect time to remind everyone of the important role Sportsmanship plays in athletics. Student athletes have the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than themselves. When we, as fans or athletes, fail to act with integrity, it takes away from this in so many ways. Support our Bears by lifting them up without putting others down. It is never acceptable to yell at coaches, players, officials or opposing fans. As always, it's a great day to be a BEAR!
Go Bears,
Kenny Hill
Athletic Director

This weekend was a series of firsts for the Gear Bears Robotics Team. It was the first time we competed in an official in season qualifier event for FIRST Robotics, the "major league" international robotics competition series. It was also the first time a Hall County School has ever competed in FIRST. We are in the Peachtree District, which includes all 133 teams in Georgia and South Carolina, with most teams coming from STEM schools around the metro area. Each team competes in 2 qualifier events for the season where they try to score enough points to be one of the 50 teams to qualify for the district championship. The top 5 or 6 six at the championship earn a trip to Houston for the international championship.
The first year a new team competes they are labeled as "Rookie", and the main goal of the FIRST organizers is to get them enough help to make it through the tech inspection process to make sure they followed all of the build rules and then get some competition time. Up to 32 teams compete at a qualifier - this event was full. The 2.5 day event consists of 72 qualifier matches where pairs of 3 team alliances compete against each other. The alliances are random and you end up competing with and against every other team. The top 8 teams after qualifying rounds become Alliance Captains, and then get to go through a draft process to pick 2 more teams each, so you end up with 24 teams in the final bracket playoffs. Also, while the event is going on there are panels of judges interviewing teams at random to see how how the teams are organized, how the robots were desined, etc. Here is what the Gear Bears achieved this weekend:
We had 20 team members at the event
Placed 7th during the qualifying rounds.
Alliance 5 Captain (2 teams in top 4 inter-picked)
Eliminated during the playoffs by an extremely close match loss.
Awarded "Rookie All Star" which is the highest rookie award given. (this also is an immediate invitation to compete at the district championship for the same award)
Currently we are ranked 12th out of 133 in the district with 47 ranking points
That was an extremely impressive first event! Also, all of the matches of the event are available on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@GeorgiaFRC/videos
Sources of Strength Peer Leaders went to UNG for the Teen Wellness Summit and listened to Guest Speaker Mike Smith and participated in different wellness activities
The 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗰𝘁 had some 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 from 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗳𝗳 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 this past week. Students from two of the special needs classes at the school took a short field trip to see where their favorite SROs hang out when they aren't at school with them. SROs Ellis, Watson, Dunn and Escalante made the trip and so did Lt. Joey Walker (swipe to see the big hug he got from one of the guys!) Of course, Community Service Deputy Chuck Poteet was there to greet everyone, too!
Senior Davis Henson was accepted into the Winshape Foundation at Berry College. Davis also received a Choral Scholarship and the Grady Young Foundation Scholarship. Congratulations, Davis!
We are proud to celebrate the recent participation of our students in the STEM Goes Red event held at the University of North Georgia – Oakwood. The event was sponsored by the American Heart Association and ten girls were chosen from each Hall County School to attend this event. The purpose of the gathering was to inspire high school girls with an interest in STEM fields by showcasing the various opportunities and potential impact these areas hold. The girls had the chance to attend sessions in the fields of medicine, cybersecurity, physics, astronomy, and computer information systems. They also engaged in small-group mentoring sessions with women currently working in a range of different STEM fields. It was an incredible opportunity for our students to explore and learn all the possibilities their futures hold.

Bluff's Audrey Graham named to PGF All American watchlist.
Her talent has turned the heads of the Premier Girls Fast Pitch organization as she was added to the PGF Futures All-American watchlist as a sophomore.
“Audrey is a special player. She is a real student of the game, and she works very hard to be the best at everything she does,” Joiner said. “Obviously, she is an incredible athlete, but she is also a very humble role model for the younger girls in the program. Over the last two seasons, I have seen her set goals for herself and grow tremendously to achieve them. She has become one of the best defensive infielders in the state in two years’ time just from hard work and grit.”
Graham batted .344 with 20 RBIs and five home runs last season, recording a .374 on-base percentage, a .987 on-base plus slugging percentage, and a .613 slugging percentage.
The PGF Futures All-American watchlist sets Graham on a path to hopefully make the All-American game before her high school career is over.
Graham said on Tuesday that she doesn't see this as a career milestone yet but is focused on getting better throughout spring and summer.
