Half way through! Can you believe that we have reached the midway point of this school year?
For parents of our underclassmen, this half way point is a great time for conversations...about your students' grades, your students' friend groups, and just general discussion about how they are balancing high school life. It is so much different than middle school (for parents and students!) Something to tuck into the back of your thoughts, we will be starting the registration process for the 2023-2024 school year towards the end of January.
For our junior parents, this is a big year! Your students start making choices that begin their future plans. There are so many choices coming up. Talk with your students about their thoughts as we prepare for next school year on Work Based Learning, Dual Enrollment opportunities, pathway completions, not to mention leadership opportunities that will be surfacing soon. Colleges, job, and military recruiters are looking for well-rounded students. Help encourage your students to- find a positive way to get involved if they haven't done so yet.
For our senior parents, wasn't it just a moment ago that your students started high school? Life with a high school student speeds up significantly as they get closer to finishing up. I really hope that through ALL of the emotions that will be surfacing these next few months, that you take those mental snapshots to remember those little moments. If you haven't signed up for our senior Remind, this is definitely the time to reach out to Mrs. Purdy and get signed up. So much happens leading up to graduation in May. When I taught seniors, I used to celebrate with them right after the winter holidays and the calendar had turned reminding them that it was finally THEIR year! It is almost time!
This holiday season, I pray that you get some quality time (a rarity with teenagers sometimes) with your loved ones. I hope for peace, good health, and joy for all of you in the new year. When I count my blessing, I count this community as one of mine.
Happy Holidays, Make good choices, and Go Bears!
Mrs. Ramsey
** Parents and Guardians, please help us out by reminding your students about the dress code. Particularly, we are seeing students wearing clothing that do not meet the dress code expectations.
From the Handbook, pg. 8 "Examples of inappropriate dress are: Shirts, blouses, or T-shorts with vulgar, offensive, or suggestive words of pictures or which advertise alcohol, tobacco, weapons, or other controlled substances" Students are not permitted to wear clothing that says "Playboy" or "Cookies" among others.
**As the weather changes, a few dress code reminders:
1) The top or outer layer worn with leggings should hit the legs at fingertip length.
2) No sleep attire should be worn to school. (This includes robes, slippers, onesie pajamas etc)
3) Hats and hoods are not permitted within the building.
Also, if your student "borrowed" a top from the front office so that they met dress code, please return those to Ms. Tess.
Our Student Agenda is available HERE
Please help us encourage our students to follow the dress code during the school day.
All visitors, students and staff are expected to wear an ID while on campus. Make sure that anyone who is visiting campus checks in through the main office.
Parents can go to MyPaymentsPlus to purchase a second ID if your child looses it. It is the expectation for and the responsibility of the students to wear their IDs daily.
