Hello Bear Family,
I truly hope you are enjoying the "fake Spring" weather we get a taste of each year. We have plenty of outdoor activities at CBHS that give us the opportunity to watch our kids compete and soak in a little of the higher temperatures at the same time. (That also means we brave the temp drops , winds and rains, but it wouldn't be Spring in the South without the changes!)
I love this time of year because of the energy around campus. Fine arts students and teachers are jumping into their busy season, CTAE clubs are competing, and Spring sports are underway. There are so many chances to see our kids shine! I encourage you all to catch a match, a game, a meet, or a performance.
Recently we sent out a video regarding a guest speaker we will be hosting this Thursday. We will have our parent meeting in the morning, followed by an all school presentation. Please RSVP if you plan on attending so that we can be sure we have enough space to accommodate everyone. Even if you cannot attend, please ask your students for what they learned. I will always say that trying to have conversation with our teenagers, as parents, is tough, so hopefully you will see this as an opportunity for dinner time discussion.
Thank you again for allowing us the opportunity to work with your kids every day. The Spring is a busy time, and we don't want anyone to miss out.
Make it a great week, make good choices, and Go BEARS!

No matter where our students will find themselves after high school, there will be set expectations including things like dress codes and wearing of ids. Attire for a football game or weekend activity are not the same as the dress code on campus. Parents, please help guide your students to make good choices as it relates to choice of school day attire.
Wearing IDs is the expectations every day, all day. Lately, too many students are choosing to not follow this school rule. Consequences such as detentions or ISS can result from choosing to break school rules.
Please refer to the dress code (Handbook pg 8; to the side) and visible reminder (below).
One of ways to make good choices and be a leader is by making good choices each morning!
Volunteer opportunities at Eagle Ranch will be available March 16th. Caleb Davis, Michael Arbour, and Ethan Muyres plan to lead CBHS students and will be sending out more information soon during Innovation.
Olivia Owen’s Senior LEGACY Capstone has been to get her dog Junie trained and certified as a therapy dog. Recently, Junie passed all requirements and has been visiting students at CB. She is a welcomed sight.

Spring sports are in full swing. We've got Bears participating in Baseball, Golf, Lacrosse, Soccer, Tennis, and Track. All spring sport schedules can be found on our website, above on The Bluff Bulletin, on the Bear Weekly that is published each week, and on all forms of social media. This is also the perfect time to remind everyone of the important role Sportsmanship plays in athletics. Student athletes have the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than themselves. When we, as fans or athletes, fail to act with integrity, it takes away from this in so many ways. Support our Bears by lifting them up without putting others down. It is never acceptable to yell at coaches, players, officials or opposing fans. As always, it's a great day to be a BEAR!
Go Bears,
Kenny Hill
Athletic Director
Women's Tennis:
Men's Tennis;
Boy's Lacrosse is off to a great start! Currently we are 1-1. We are slammed packed with games in March where we hope to add lots of wins to our tally and continue to grow and get better as a program. It is an exciting time to be apart of Cherokee Bluff Lacrosse.
Baseball is off to a good start. Figuring things out and getting prepared to begin Region play. Looking forward to keeping the momentum going as we start facing some very tough competition. The baseball team leaves on Feb. 29th to compete against some of the top programs in the Southeast at the Perfect Game High School Showdown. Hope to see everyone at Bluff Ballpark as we enter into Region play for our Varsity Squad. You can pretty much find a home game any night of the week with our JV, C Team, and our Middle School programs.

Women's Soccer:
The varsity girls, now getting players back and getting healthy, look to start region play off strong on 2/27. Their record right now is 3-3-0, losing to a few very good teams without their full roster in any of the 3 matches. They will have to begin region play without a couple of seniors, Kaitlin Cook and Eva Martin, who have suffered season ending knee injuries. The girls are still looking for that top spot in the region.
Mens JV Soccer:
"The season has kicked off well, with the Bluff Soccer JV Boys getting better week by week. Come out and support as the season is done by Spring Break! We have four home games left; 3/4 vs. East Hall, 3/7 vs. Walnut Grove, 3/11 vs. Forsyth Central, 3/20 vs. Chestatee. All home games will kickoff at 6pm, see you there!"
Mens Varsity Soccer:
The Varsity boys started their season off strong defeating Gainesville 1-0 for the first time in school history. At this point their record is 3-2-1 heading in to region play on 2/27. Their 2 losses came against a very strong, undefeated Clarke Central (#2 in 5A) and a Johns Creek (#2 in 6A) side who is also undefeated at this point. The boys have shown well in every game and look to compete for the top spot in the region.
The boys and girls golf teams got underway earlier this month and look forward to a successful season. On the boys side, we are returning 4 of our top 6 performers from last year’s 8th place state finish. The girls team is also expected to compete returning 2 of our top 4 players, one of those returners being Alisa Pressley, the recent Lanier Invitational Individual Medalist. She won the title with an outstanding round of 68. Make plans to join our teams at The Hall County Championships are March 11-12 @ Chicopee Woods.

"I wanted to send the attached log and let you know that Saturday went even better than I had imagined. We had a great a turn out as you can see from the log. I know the log only shows about an hour and a half but those kids covered some ground and made some older folks very happy on Saturday. Several of them brought their cards with them and along with the ones that Abby brought, we had plenty with some left over. Some of the residents were sick on Saturday so we couldn’t visit with them. The activity coordinator is saving the leftover cards and will distribute those to the ones that were sick and the personnel that weren’t there later on this week. I was so impressed with the young people that showed up. They interacted with the residents and seemed to be enjoying themselves. They left a lot of people with smiles on their faces Saturday morning. We had many of the residents say “this will be the only Valentine I get”. I will forward a picture of the group in a few minutes."

On Tuesday, February 27th, the Cherokee Bluff High School band held their Pre-LGPE Concert, showcasing the culmination of weeks of dedicated practice and preparation for their upcoming Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE). This evaluation, a crucial annual assessment of student achievement in music ensembles across Georgia, requires directors to select music that demonstrates various fundamental performance standards and concepts, with difficulty levels ranging from Grade Level 1 to Grade Level 6. At the concert, two esteemed experts in music education, Ms. Vicki Pinson and Mr. Mercer Crook, provided recorded and written commentary to help the students refine their performances for the LGPE on Wednesday, March 13th, at Hart County High School. The concert was structured to simulate the LGPE format, with no intermission announcements and brief pauses between selections for evaluator feedback. Despite this being a practice performance, the students delivered exceptional performances, receiving high praise from the judges. Their dedication and talent were evident, and they are now eagerly preparing for the LGPE, with the Concert Band scheduled to perform at 1:30pm and the Symphonic Band at 4:00pm. Overall, the Pre-LGPE Concert was a resounding success, showcasing the hard work and talent of the band students.
