Here are a few highlights from our week together!
We kicked off another wonderful week in our Spring/Bug theme with lots of hands‑on exploration and playful learning. The children moved through engaging centres that sparked curiosity, encouraged creativity, and supported early learning skills in meaningful ways. Here are a few highlights from this week’s Spring adventures.
Our Big Bug, Little Bug activity was a fun way to explore opposites this week. Each child received one or two bugs of their own and eagerly checked to see if they matched any of the bugs in the book. They were fully engaged—pointing out sizes, comparing their bugs to the pictures, and proudly identifying each opposite as it appeared. It was a lively, hands‑on way to build early language skills while keeping the learning playful and interactive.
Our Five Little Speckled Frogs rhyme was a favorite during circle time this week. The children happily counted down on their fingers as each frog “jumped” off the log, joining in with the rhythm and number sequence. They were so proud to show their counting skills, and the repetition made it a fun, confidence‑building moment for everyone.
For hands‑on learning this week, we celebrated creativity with a beautiful Mother’s Day crafts. The children made hand‑painted flowers, with some choosing one special color and others painting each finger a different shade to create bright, unique petals. We also explored symmetry by adding drops of paint to paper, folding it, and opening it to reveal stunning butterfly designs. Both activities encouraged fine motor skills, color exploration, and artistic expression—and the children were so proud of the lovely gifts they created.
Our Farmers Market was a hit again this week. The children enjoyed exploring the space, gathering items, and engaging in rich pretend‑play as they shopped and created their own stories. This week, they also began making simple fruit‑based drinks using the ingredients from the market area, which added an exciting new layer to their play. Our space will continue to change—so keep an eye out to see what fun creation appears next!
