This week we wrapped up our Ocean theme. Here are some of our favourite centres. 

This week, we enjoyed reading We're Going on an Egg Hunt. Each child was given a unique coloured egg to find when reading the book. When they found their egg, they were encouraged to describe it and match it to the same one displayed at the front of the classroom. It was also a wonderful opportunity to practice our core words: in, big, little, look, and see. This helps build early language skills, confidence, and communication in a fun, hands-on way!

Five Little Fish is a fun counting rhyme we share at Carpet Time. The children love joining in as the number of fish goes down and the suspense builds with each verse. It’s playful, rhythmic, and a great way to practice early counting skills. 

We wrapped up the week with a fun classroom egg hunt! Each egg held a puzzle piece, and once all the eggs were found, students worked together following "The Group Plan" to assemble the puzzle. It was a great mix of movement, teamwork, problem‑solving, and lots of excitement as the final picture came together. 

Students had a wonderful week engaging in hands‑on activities. They explored our magic egg‑reveal craft by placing tape on their eggs to create lines and shapes, painting over the entire surface, and then peeling the tape away to uncover their hidden designs. 

Students continued to have fun in our Ice Cream Shop—taking orders, role‑playing, and “making” all kinds of treats while building language, social, and pretend‑play skills. The shop has now expanded into a Lemonade + Ice Cream stand, adding even more opportunities for creativity and cooperative play. We can’t wait to see what it becomes next!
