Here are a few highlights from our week together!
This week, we officially kicked off our Farm theme, and the classroom has been buzzing with excitement. The children explored a variety of hands‑on centres, each designed to spark curiosity, encourage play, and build early learning skills. Here are some of our favourites from the week.
Mrs. Wishy Washy was a big hit in our classroom this week. As we read the story, each child was given their own animal and took turns giving it a bubbly “bath,” just like Mrs. Wishy Washy does in the book. This simple, hands‑on activity had everyone giggling and fully engaged, while also encouraging language development, turn‑taking, and imaginative play. It was a joyful way to bring the story to life and help the children connect with the characters in a meaningful, memorable way.
Five Little Ducks has been a favourite at carpet time. The children love joining in with the familiar rhyme, using their fingers to show how many ducks are left as the number goes down. Each verse builds a little anticipation, and the repetitive, sing‑song pattern makes it easy for everyone to participate.
Students had a great time creating their own paper‑plate chickens this week. With googly eyes, paint, and lots of imagination, each child designed a unique little farm friend to take home. It was a fun, hands‑on way to explore our Farm theme while practicing fine‑motor and creative skills.
Students were so excited to explore our brand‑new Farmers Market this week! (We just transformed it Thursday-so stay tuned for more pictures). Students shopped for pretend fruits and veggies, filled their baskets, and even weighed their items on a scale—just like at a real market. The children loved taking on different roles and using lots of language as they “bought” and “sold” produce, all while building social and pretend‑play skills in a fun, hands‑on way.
