Here are a few highlights from our week together!
Even with another short week, we jumped right back into our Spring/Bug theme and filled our days with rich, hands‑on learning. The children were excited as we introduced our new bees and camping focus, exploring centres that inspired curiosity, imagination, and early learning growth. Their enthusiasm carried us through the week—here are some of the moments that made it special.
Our One Little Blueberry storytime invited the children into a playful counting adventure. As the tiny blueberry rolled from one curious creature to the next, the children eagerly followed along—predicting what might happen, spotting familiar animals, and chiming in with each new number. They were fully engaged, laughing at the blueberry’s silly journey and proudly counting each step of the way. It was a joyful, interactive way to build early numeracy and storytelling skills while keeping the experience light, imaginative, and fun.
We brought back our Fuzzy Little Caterpillar finger play this week, and it was just as big a hit as ever. The children were instantly drawn in by the wiggly motions and soft, creeping movements, happily inching their fingers along as the caterpillar crawled, climbed, and curled up to rest. With our real caterpillars now transformed into butterflies, the finger play felt extra meaningful. The children were able to connect the movements in their hands to the beautiful changes happening right in our classroom. They loved it so much that they asked for it again and again during carpet time, filling the room with laughter, movement, and joyful anticipation for the butterflies to come.
Those who were absent last week had the chance to complete their birds this week, ensuring everyone could be part of our growing Spring display. For hands‑on learning this week, we celebrated creativity with a beautiful Spring art project. The children painted colorful birds to add to our classroom tree, thoughtfully choosing their colors and taking pride in contributing to our shared space.
Our Backyard BBQ dramatic‑play area brought a burst of excitement into the classroom this week. The children eagerly stepped into the space—flipping pretend burgers, serving up sizzling favorites, and inventing lively stories as they cooked for friends. They also started mixing up simple “BBQ sauces” and picnic‑style sides with the props, adding a playful new layer to their imaginative cooking adventures.
