Here are a few highlights from our week together!
We kicked off our final month with a wonderful start to our camping theme, filling the classroom with hands‑on exploration and playful outdoor‑inspired learning. The children moved through engaging centres that sparked curiosity, encouraged creativity, and supported early learning in meaningful, joyful ways. Here are a few highlights from this week’s camping adventures.
Our The Very Cranky Bear story invited the children into a lively woodland adventure. They eagerly followed the cranky bear and his cheerful animal friends, predicting what might happen next and reacting with big smiles as the story unfolded.
Our A Camping We Will Go song was a big hit during circle time this week. The children happily joined in the motions—pretending to pitch their tent, head out on an adventure, and explore the “great outdoors” together. They loved moving their bodies to the rhythm, and the familiar actions made it a fun, confidence‑building moment for everyone.
Our hands‑on learning this week was full of creativity and imaginative expression. After reading The Very Cranky Bear, the children fork painted and decorated their own bear faces—choosing colours, adding fun details, and proudly creating their very own “not‑so‑cranky” bears. It was a playful way to extend the story while building fine‑motor skills, early literacy connections, and artistic confidence.
Our dramatic‑play area has turned into a cozy campsite, and the children have loved jumping into the adventure. They gathered around wooden logs and paper flames, pretending to warm up by the fire. With camping props all around, they cooked imaginative meals, shared stories, and fully embraced the fun of outdoor pretend play.
