David Beckham

David Beckham is a good role model to children as he encourages young people to do their best and to play all types of sports.

Young life

He was born in May 2 1975. When he was 14 he joined Manchester United Youth Team. At the age of 17 he had his first appearance for the first team.

CAREER

He received his first England cap at the age of 21. When he played in the World Cup in 1998 he was sent off against Argentina. In the year 2000 he got picked to be captain of the England football team. In 2002 he scored the winning goal for England against Greece to get them through to the World Cup Finals. Unfortunately we lost to .

AWARDS

He received an OBE award, and he helped team GB win the bid for 2012 Olympic Games. He has the most outfield appearances for England

TEAMS

He has played for Manchester United, England, La galaxy, Paris St Germain and Real Madrid.
