Writing News Stories for the Gorseland TimesView previous editions of the Gorseland Times
The Gorseland Times publishes news stories about life at Gorseland written by children for our school newspaper, The Gorseland Times. The next edition will be about what has happened in the school during this half term.
Y6e will write articles and all of the other classes are invited to add a page too. Below is some advice for writing like a journalist:
Advice for writing your class newspaper article
• What would you like other people to know about what your class has done recently?
• What would you like to remember in the future?
• There could be over 1000 people who will look at the newspaper. This is made up of 500 children plus at least one adult per child. Think carefully about what they need to know.
• Protect the identity of children by using first names only.

Laying out your article
• Avoid using text boxes as much as possible. Your article will be copied into one document and text boxes do not copy very well from one document to another
• You can have one column of text or set up two columns
• Make sure you do not have several blank lines at the bottom of your article. To check, hold 'CTRL' and press 'END'. If you do have lots of blank lines, press backspace to remove them
