Ashes of Silence
By Tihonnah Clayton, Grade 10
She is a locked book on a dusty shelf,
Her pages torn by hands that don't care for herself.
She is a locked book burned beyond repair,
Ashes scattered in a cold, empty air.
A lighthouse shattered on a jagged shore, its lights extinguished forevermore.
Her voice, a whisper, buried in the void,
Drowned by silence, broken and destroyed.
A puzzle piece lost in a bottomless pit,
Falling forever, never to fit.
She walks through halls of endless decay,
Where shadows bleed and hope slips away.
A shadow devoured by a ravenous night,
Consumed by darkness, void of light.
Beneath the surface, a hollow ache,
A soul undone, beginning to break.
