Hooky is an interesting and magic filled high fantasy read that follows two sibling witches that, after a misunderstanding from missing their school bus, are cast out as outlaws. They adventure through the world, attempting to find a teacher and somewhere to stay, soon stumbling across the home of a wise old witch with his apprentice. Eventually a princess on a quest to save her prince from the witches joins them in the house and they work together to unravel the conspiracy that is shaking up the witch and human communities alike. I really liked this graphic novel, it was super interesting and I can't wait to read the following series.

Over the book, Audrey attempts to find her love to be sent back home with a fairytale ending while Lucy enjoys her last weeks of freedom with her new best friend. The Cruel Prince is an engaging fantasy book following a girl named Jude with her two sisters who has lived in the Faerie court for ten years after her parents were killed at seven years old. She struggles heavily in this new world that hates all humans. Her only hope is to claw up the ranks in society to become a knight or to marry a fae, gaining an official place in the court. She has her heart set on becoming a knight, the only problem is her main tormentor and the king's youngest son is taking every opportunity to make her live horrible and ruin her chances at this goal. This world has a beautiful atmosphere and the engaging action kept me turning the pages.

Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries is a wonderful and artistically crafted book based on a lot of European type folklore creatures that inhabit the world. This book follows a woman named Emily Wilde who is a renowned faerie researcher and professor who is traveling the world to work on her encyclopedia. The final destination on her research journey is a small village named Hrafnsvik who is loosing more and more lovestruck youth every year to the elusive type of faeries, the hidden ones. She navigates the mysteries and scientific achievements alongside her work colleague and friend, Wendell Bambleby, who she suspects may be more magical then he's let on, or more magical then he can let on. This is my favorite book I read this year, maybe my favorite ever, and I desperately look forward to the sequel.
