It has been another exciting month at J.L.
November was full of events and there is lots more to come next month!
Assemblies
Since our last issue, J.L. students participated in two assemblies. We had Canadian rapper and motivational speaker Duane Gibson speak to all students. Also referred to as D.O., Duane talked about his life growing up and how he worked hard to be successful. It was an engaging assembly and even had some singing and dancing.
We also had a beautiful Rememberance Day assembly in the gymnasium and live streamed to classrooms. Students read stories and poems, our band performed some pieces, and we had local service members stand in the assembly as well.
J.L. First Annual Craft Fair
On November 25th, J.L. hosted its 1st Annual Craft Fair in the gymnasium. The fair was organized by the school's SAC. The fair had over 25 vendors who sold baked goods, holiday decor, and much more! We even had some students participate as vendors in the event. We can't wait for the next one!
Field Trips to NSCAD, St.FX, Dalhousie, and more
It's that time of year where colleges and universities are having open houses and accepting applications. Over the past month, students have visited Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Saint Francis Xavier Unversity, Dalhousie and King's College, and Acadia University! We wish all students good luck if they are thinking of applying to these schools.
Prom Bingo
The J.L. Prom Committee hosted its first bingo of the year and it was a great success! There were prizes from Taz Records, Halifax Mooseheads, Taste of Halifax, and much more local bussinesses. Thanks to all that donated and thanks to all that came out to play! See you at the next one :)
