Exam Week
We hope everyone had a successful exam week! Students from grades 9-12 wrote their exams in a variety of courses. Semester 2 is now underway and we wish everyone a happy second semester full of new opportunities for learning.

Sports and Clubs
Check out our sports page for some information on how our sports teams are doing. Both Girls' Rugby and Field Hockey are beginning this month. No experience is required. Check out the posters around school and announcements for try out dates and locations. Many clubs are continuing their weekly meetings and activities.  The Health Action Team and Book Crew are especially ramping up with their lunh time activities like selling ice cream sandwiches and planning new programming.

Candy and Flower Grams
This Valentine’s Day, Student Council will be bringing back candy and flower grams. They will be selling until February, Tuesday the 13th in the cafeteria. $2.00 for candy, $2.50 for a flower. Senders must know the recipients block 4 and block 1 classes. Let’s spread the love!

Academic Awards
Academic Awards for 2022-23 students will be Feb 15th 9:20-10:20 in the cafeteria. Students have been sent an invite via their email. If you did not receive an email and you had a 75% plus average, please check the list posted in Guidance. Grade 9 students average is their 4 core subjects (Math, English, Science and Citizenship). If you are not on the posted list and you still believe you should receive an Academic Award email Ms Nickerson and she will check. knickerson@hrce.ca

Humans of J.L.
Mr. Wojick's ELA 9 class recently finished a project called "Humans of J.L.". Students interviewed their peers, staff, and teachers here at J.L. to discuss their life experiences and offer advice. Check out their stories here: WIX 1: "Stories of Humanity"
