Hi! I'm sorry I have to be gone one more day. I miss you all terribly! <3
For your Do Now, if you could choose a genetic mutation to have, what would you choose and why?
I can boldly share my ideas and actively listen to the ideas of others in a discussion about genetic mutations.
This means I will work with my group to answer some questions about our text.
This means I will share my answers to these questions with the class.
What are we doing today?
Hi everyone. Damien has a doctor's appointment that I need to attend with him today. I will be back tomorrow. I don't want us to get behind, so you are going to have a modified Socratic dialogue today without me. We will start our lab tomorrow.
Keep in mind that even though I'm not here, the purpose of this class is the same: for you to make sure you understand the concepts from the text and to use your voice to practice talking about the vocabulary and ideas from this case study. Please take the seriously.
Each group will work to answer some questions similar to Socratic dialogue questions. In the second half of class, groups will be asked to share and discuss their answers to these questions with the class.
Here are the questions you should answer with your groups (each person should write down the answers on their own paper). You can use your texts to answer these questions and/or you can use one computer per group to look at additional resources for help.
Please turn in case study 3 texts at the end of class!
Before you begin, watch this video about mutations to start your conversation:
Now, answer the questions with your group. You will turn these in at the end of class, so make sure you write down your answers.
When groups or ready, or when there are about 15 minutes left in class, have a discussion about the questions. One group should share their answer to a question. The other groups should share any additional information they have about that question.
