What are some things your poster must have in order to earn a 3?
List all the parts you can remember (think about the rubric from yesterday)
NOTICE!
You must turn in your lab write-up and poster to the guest teacher at the end of this class period! Late work will not be accepted.

I can create a visual model to represent conservation of mass in a chemical reaction.
This means I will complete a lab investigation about chemical reactions.
This means I will record my observations about the substances before, during, and after the reaction.
This means I will create a visual model to show conservation of mass in a chemical reaction.
What is conservation of mass?
Today, you will create a model to represent conservation of mass. Here are some things to know:
* You will work in your lab group
* If your lab group has 4 people, work in pairs. If your lab group has 3 people, work together.
* You will create 2D models (posters)
* We will be sharing these in class later this week
* You will be able to work on this Tuesday and Wednesday
* There are markers and colored pencils in the drawers under the microwave
* Finn suggests starting with a rough draft so your team can refine your concept before creating a final product
* In the picture of the molecules in your packet from the investigation, look at the number of each type of atom before and after the reaction. What do you notice?
* Also consider looking at the periodic table of elements (in the lab manual in the front of the room). Look at the total atomic mass of the reactants before the reaction and the products after. What do you notice?
* You should not complete this early if you are doing it well. If you do run out of work, ask the guest teacher for the next text so you can begin reading and annotating.
How will this be graded?
Examples and aids:
When the "Time to Clean Up" notification goes off:
Students should return all materials neatly to where they belong
Students should stand up behind their pushed in stools (not gather by the door)
Students may leave the room once the bell has rung and the room is clean
Homework
No homework!
