Task: Depending on which group you are in, you will have a specific task.
Hallway Group:
Complete IXL U.4. You may use a model or mental math to solve. You don't need to write the equation.
Blaser Group:
Correct as a group the two problems from the formative yesterday.
Complete 2 problems together and 2 problems alone from IXL U.4. Use a model to solve. Write the equation with labels.
Weiss Group:
Correct as a group the two problems from the formative yesterday.
Complete 1 problem together and 3 problems alone from IXL U.4. Use a model to solve. Write the equation with labels.
SUMMATIVE TODAY
Task: Show what you know!
FOR EACH PROBLEM:
Write the division problem.
USE a model to solve. Check your answer if you know of a shortcut method.
Include a label with the quotient (answer).
Double check that the answer makes sense and silly mistakes are not made.
AFTER THE SUMMATIVE:
Task: Complete all of the slides from the slideshow. You will need to do three tasks for each problem:
1) Drag the Base-10 pieces onto the flat.
2) Type the product in the equation. Double click on the box with the pink question mark in order to type.
3) Show the steps to solve with the standard algorithm WITH whole numbers.
EARLY FINISHER:
Solve problems on IXL CC.7
Write each problem on notebook paper or whiteboard.
EXAMPLE: 0.92 x 4
Multiply using the standard algorithm (remember to ignore the decimal point)...92 x 4 which equals 368
Use a Benchmark Product to know where to place the decimal point in the actual product.
.92 is close to 1 so 1 x 4 = 4...
Closest number to 4 with the digits 368 would be 3.68, so that is the actual product to .92 x 4
Task: Use your understanding of decimals and of modeling fractions multiplication to determine how to multiply decimal values by decimal values.
Complete all of the slides from the slideshow. You will need to do three tasks for each problem:
1) Drag the Base-10 pieces onto the flat.
2) Type the product in the equation. Double click on the box with the pink question mark in order to type.
3) Show the steps to solve using the standard algorithm WITH whole numbers.
CHECK w/Mr. Weiss or Mrs. Putz after the first problem is completed.
EARLY FINISHER:
Solve problems on IXL DD.2
COMPLETE AFTER PROBLEM OF THE DAY: Extra cheese on a sandwich at the deli costs $0.17 per slice. How much money will 5 slices cost?
(Use a hundredths flat AND more than one color to model/solve for the answer.)
