Task 1: Use your understanding of decimals and of modeling fractions multiplication to determine how to multiply decimal values by decimal values.
Click on THE TOP BUTTON for your class. Complete all of the slides from the slideshow. You will need to do three tasks for each problem:
1) Drag the Base-10 pieces onto the flat.
2) Type the product in the equation. Double click on the box with the pink question mark in order to type.
3) Show the steps to solve using the standard algorithm WITH whole numbers.
CHECK w/Mr. Blaser or Mr. Weiss after the first problem is completed.
Task 2: Use a close number to insert the decimal point into the product.
Click on THE BOTTOM BUTTON for your class. Complete the following slides:
Task: Use your understanding of using an area model to multiply whole numbers to multiply whole numbers with decimal values by whole numbers with decimal values.
Complete all of the slides from the slideshow. You will need to do three tasks for each problem:
1) Make the multiplication problem with whole numbers!
2) Multiply.
3) Add the partial products.
4) Insert the decimal point into the number using a close answer.
CHECK w/Mr. Blaser or Mr. Weiss after the first problem is completed.
Task: Complete the slideshow.
After each problem slide is a slide with the appropriate model to use for that particular problem. Do the following:
Write the equation with labels on the problem slide.
Write the equation on the solving slide.
Solve.
Write the product on BOTH slides.
TURN IN WHEN FINISHED!
Task: Complete the problems in each Knockout round.
SUMMATIVE TODAY
Task: Show what you know!
FOR EACH PROBLEM:
Write the multiplication problem w/labels. DON'T NEED TO GET CHECKED.
Solve.
Include a label with the product (answer).
Double check that the answer makes sense and silly mistakes not made.
AFTER THE SUMMATIVE:
Complete Number Patterns (A calculator may be used.)
USE A TAPE DIAGRAM TO SOLVE/PROVE YOUR ANSWER.
