Task: CLICK on the Google Classroom button for your class below.
COMPLETE the Subtracting Decimals #1 Slideshow.
DON'T COMPLETE STANDARD ALGORITHM!
SHOW Mr. Weiss or Mr. Blaser after solving the first problem on Slide 5.
In your math notebook, draw a rough sketch for solving 3 of the 5 problems.
You may work with a partner if you would like.
DON'T TURN IN WHEN FINISHED!!!
Task: Participate during several partner and class discussions.
Mr. Weiss made apple, French silk, and pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving. One pie had 12 pieces; one pie had 8 pieces; one pie had 14 pieces; one pie had 10 pieces. Half of the pieces were pumpkin while the pie with the most pieces wasn't French silk. How many pieces of each flavor of pie did Mr. Weiss make? (What can you use to help organize the data?)
Task:
COMPLETE 8 of the problems.
In your notebook, solve ANY four problems using a model with drawing all three types of Base-10 pieces.
This is the first method that we learned for decimal subtraction.
Using the blank flats on the handout, complete 4 different problems.
Use one color. Make each X with a pencil or pen.
Number & write ALL of the equations above the flats used for that problem.
Draw a fence around each problem to help separate one from another.
#1) 0.83 - 0.24 = #2) 1.07 - 0.17 = #3) 2.25 - 0.38 = #4) 1.3 - 0.3 =
#5) 2.07 - 0.9 = #6) 2.06 - 0.09 = #7) 1.41 - 0.36 = #8) 0.58 - 0.42 =
#9) 2.4 - 1.04 = #10) 2.84 - 1.98 =
Round to the underlined place value:
a) 12.6382
b) 0.249
c) 1.4776

COMPLETE as many of the slides as possible. You may use MENTAL MATH, CALCULATOR, STANDARD ALGORITHM or MODELS.
GET EACH slide checked when finished.
Task: SOLVE the five problems shown below. Use the dry erase pocket folder template with the blank flats.
In your math notebook:
Write the problem being solved with word equations. (GET CHECKED AFTER ALL 5 ARE WRITTEN.)
Solve using either of the two models. (Use the dry erase pocket folder template.)
Show your work with a rough sketch. Remember to use 2 different colors for addition.
GET CHECKED WHEN FINISHED!
FIRST, write the ordered pair for each of the five locations on the coordinate grid map. SECONDLY, complete the writing directions for how to travel task using complete sentences.
