Day 2 & 3
Here's is an example of the project broken down into six parts for creating a mini basketball hoop manufacturing process in the classroom:
As a Class we need to get a 1 project to each step of the manufacturing process, then tomorrow we can start bulk manufacturing these with each group doing their part!!!
Part 1: Base Construction
Objective: Build the foundation of the mini basketball hoop.
Tasks:
Glue the two long side pieces to the base.
Glue the two short side pieces to the front and back sides of the base.
Part 2: Adding Holes and Initial Assembly
Objective: Prepare the base for further assembly.
Tasks:
Create Hole #1 for threading the string.
Make a mark for Hole #2 for basketball hoop post placement.
Thread the string through Hole #1, securing with glue.
Enlarge Hole #2 using a drill bit or chopstick for the hoop post.
Part 3: Adding Weight and Top Piece
Objective: Add stability and complete the base.
Tasks:
Add a layer of sand to the bottom of the base.
Glue the top piece onto the base.
Part 4: Constructing the Hoop and Launcher Board
Objective: Build the basketball hoop and the board behind it.
Tasks:
Glue together the four pieces of the board behind the net.
Assemble the wedge for the catapult launcher.
Part 5: Assembling the Launcher
Objective: Complete the launcher section of the mini basketball hoop.
Tasks:
Attach the wedge back to the bottom piece.
Glue the top piece onto the wedge back.
Complete the wedge assembly by attaching the sides.
Part 6: Finishing and Painting
Objective: Add finishing touches to the mini basketball hoop.
Tasks:
Cover edges of game pieces with brown paper tape for a polished look.
Paint all components, including the hoop, ball, and post.
Exercise caution while painting the base to prevent sand spillage.
By breaking down the process into these six parts, students can engage in focused steps and gain a comprehensive understanding of constructing a mini basketball hoop from scratch. This project encourages hands-on learning, problem-solving, and creative expression.
Day 4&5
Bulk Manufacture as many basketball hoops as you can and auction them off or have a drawing. Put some good ones in classrooms of your friends in the building to help recurity, label them - Made in Mr(s). class.
