Week 6 w.b. 08.02.2021

Dear Parents,

We hope you have all had a lovely weekend!

This week is our final week of the half term! We cannot believe how quick these last 6 weeks have gone and continue to be amazed at how well the children have adjusted to this new way of learning. We thank you again for all of your hard work and support during these times.

We really hope these are our last few weeks of remote learning as we cannot wait to have all the children back in school and to be teaching them in person. We really miss them! However, we also really want these last few weeks of remote learning to be as productive and beneficial to the children as possible and to best prepare them for when they return to school. Bearing this in mind, please can we ask that you encourage your child to participate in the zoom sessions as much as possible, they come prepared with their whiteboard and pen, they finish eating before the lesson starts and they sit up at a table if possible. They are only small things but they will make a difference to your child’s learning. Thank you :)

Key dates for next week

‘Safer Internet Day’ is on Tuesday 9th February. This is a day where we come together and help make the internet a safer and better place for all, especially for our children. We will also celebrate Chinese New Year on Friday 12th February and there will be planned activities for both of these days on our weekly matrix.

Reading Books

Unfortunately, we are not able to give out reading books at the moment, however, there are lots of ways you can get access to books or reading material for your child. Please see a few suggestions below:

-Harper Collins are offering free access to Big Cat reading scheme until the end of February. https://connect.collins.co.uk/school/teacherlogin.aspx Login: parents@harpercollins.co.uk Password: Parents!21

-Wokingham Library Click and Collect Service - https://www.wokingham.gov.uk/libraries/click-and-collect-library-books/ The library has many reading books that will be suitable for your child such as: Oxford reading tree, Julia Donaldson Songbird collection, Espresso Education Phonics and Usborne phonics readers.

-Oxford Owl: https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/reading/free-ebooks/

-Reading Chest: Reading Book Rental service https://www.readingchest.co.uk/how-it-works

We hope they are useful and please let us know if you come across any other services or useful home learning resources, we would love to hear about them.

Here is the link to the Week 6 Matrix. Please note that our afternoon zoom sessions now start at 1:30pm.

We look forward to a great week and will see you all in the morning at 9:15!

Best Wishes,

Lucy and Emily
