Learning to Play the Piano
Here is a link to online tutorials and piano music. It comes in four different levels, so choose the one for you and go for it!
There are lots of ways you can continue all the lovely music we make at Evendons at home. Here are some suggestions for each year group.
Reception
Have fun with nursery rhymes - Nursery rhymes
Here are some other fun songs to learn - Reception Songs
Could the children put on a show for you of their fa vourite songs, perhaps make tickets with the time and date?
YEAR 1
UKULELE
Click here for Ukulele Practice notes
The Children could try strumming in time counting in 1234's with songs they know.
TRADITIONAL SONGS
The children have been learning lots of traditional songs.
Recently have been learning clapping songs...here are some of the ones be have been learning in class (LINK).
YEAR 2
RECORDER
We have been learning the notes A and B and are nearly ready to move on to G. The children could have a go at playing Hot Cross Buns from this Slide (LINK).
Don't forget to remind the children to cover the holes properly and blow their recorder confidently.
THE ORCHESTRA
The children are now going to be looking at all the instruments in the orchestra.
Here is a link to helping them learn the different sections in the orchestra - ( LINK )
Listen to some of the music below suggested for Year 3 by Gustav Holst, and try to notice the different instruments being played.
YEAR 3
- We have been learning how to describe the music we listen to using musical vocabulary. Try watching these clips on BBC Bite size (LINK) and then listen to pieces of music and describe the music using the musical words , pitch, timbre, tempo, dynamics, texture and structure.
Here are some lovely pieces of music to listen to...
Music by the composer Gustav Holst
YEAR 4
GLOCKENSPIEL
We have been learning to read music from a stave. We have been concentrating of the correct notes first and will work more on the rhythms at a later time in the year.
Can they compose their own music about a subject of their choice? Can the children write their own music for me to play when we return to school?
Here is a link to helping with the names of the notes (LINK)
Here is a link to manuscript paper the children can use (LINK)
Here is a link to the note of the school song if you want to have a go! (LINK)
YEAR 5
DJEMBE DRUMS
The children have been learning to write a 8 beat sequence of crotchet and quavers and then play them fluently. Could they continue this even further to 16 beat sequence (or even longer) and also indicate how the dynamics should be played - p (quiet) f (loud)?
Guess the Song Game- Rhythm work
Can the children tap out rhythms of songs they know and other members of the family must guess what the song is?
YEAR 6
ICT COMPOSITION
The children can access BANDLAB by clicking on this LINK The can use their gmail email addresses. I have asked the children NOT to message each other on here. The children can compose using loops and create their own dance music. I would like them to think about the duration of each section e.g. the introduction needs to build the music (Maybe 16-32 beats) a middle section (Maybe 32+ more), and an ending (16 beats?).
Keyboard
Can the children play this piece of music? Little Green Frog
You can write the names of the notes over the top. Remember if it's on the line you say the rhyme and if it's in the space it spells face.
