Canvas is currently used by students and teachers at Eastern York High School and Middle School.
What is Canvas?
Canvas is a Learning Management System (LMS). A learning management system is a web-based tool or software application that facilitates the planning, implementation, and assessment of educational courses.
What can parents do with Canvas?
Parents can be an "observer" in their child's courses. This allows them to see assignments and grades.
**Please note that the official grades are posted in Skyward. While grades from Canvas do transfer to Skyward, teachers may have other assignments not completed in Canvas. Please rely on Skyward for the official class grade.
How do I access Canvas as a parent?
There are two steps to setting up your Canvas parent account. Your student will need to generate a pairing code with their Canvas account and the parent will need to create a login for themselves.
Step 1: Generate a Pairing Code
Students can generate a pairing code to link an observer to their Canvas account. A separate pairing code must be created for each observer who would want to link to the account.
In Canvas, students will go to Account>Settings>Pair with Observer.
This will generate a six-digit pairing code to connect the observer who will be linked the student's account. This pairing code is good for 7 days.
Step 2: Access Canvas from the App or a web browser
Click here to download it from Google Play (Android Devices).
Click here to download it from the App Store (Apple Devices).
After you install the app and open it, click "Find my School" and type in "Eastern York."
Then, select "Eastern York SD - Parents." This will take you to a log in screen.
If you do not already have an account, click "Create Account" below and follow the prompts.
