631055  Beginning Guitar Ensemble

Prerequisite: None Credit: 1

This course is designed for students with no previous formal guitar instruction. The emphasis is on the foundations of music literacy, posture/set-up, musical expression and ensemble performance etiquette based on classical and finger style guitar. Students will learn to read music both in tab and notes, play solo and in ensemble, learn techniques such as slurs, scales, arpeggios, open chord shapes and right hand alternation. Each semester ends with an ensemble concert. 

Prerequisite: Classical Guitar or previous guitar training; Audition required Credit: 1

This course is designed for students who can read music and have been in the classical guitar class or who have received classical or finger style guitar training previously. The group will focus on more challenging repertoire and have performance opportunities throughout the year. Each semester ends with a concert in ensemble and solo.
