Honors World Geography is a two-semester core course for 9th-grade students. It provides students with the opportunity to study the interaction of people, their cultures, and their physical environments. Major regions of the world are studied from a past, present, and future perspective. Current events and issues are strongly emphasized. The course helps to build reading and writing skills necessary for college-level work, essential in Advanced Placement classes. This course is recommended for students who intend to take AP social studies classes in high school, but still need some preparation during their freshman year.

AP Human Geography is a two-semester core course for 9th-grade students. AP Human Geography is presented thematically and covers cultural, political, economic, and environmental topics. The course places an emphasis on geographic vocabulary, spatial concepts, and landscape analysis. Skills in analysis and synthesis are developed as part of the course in preparation for the free response portion of the AP test.
AP Human Geography shares many academic connections to AP Environmental Science and AP World History courses.
Students who obtain a qualifying score on the AP exam may receive college/university credit, advanced placement, or both.
Students who take this course are eligible for a 15-point “bump” in their GPA.
