Prerequisite:  None, Credit: 1

Students will learn about and analyze classic texts of World Literature. This survey course places a special emphasis on textual analysis, persuasive writing, and argumentation. Units of study will include short stories, novels, plays, and research. In addition, course study includes various grammar units, composition skills including paragraph development and multi-paragraph composition, basic research skills, oral presentation, use and evaluation of print and non-print media, and literature units.


102020 Honors ENGLISH II 

Prerequisite:  English I, Credit: 1

The course is an enriched study of composition, including paragraph development, outlining, and multi-paragraph composition. Continuous reading is required with an emphasis on analytical and critical skills in world literature. Also included are personalized projects, student-led discussions, oral presentations, enriched literature units, use and evaluation of print and non-print media, STAAR and PSAT preparation, and library and research skills. 



102025 GT Honors ENGLISH II 

Prerequisite:  English I & GT Designation, Credit: 1

The course is an enriched study of composition, including paragraph development, outlining, and multi-paragraph composition for students identified as gifted and talented. Continuous reading is required with an emphasis on analytical and critical skills in world literature. Also included are personalized projects, student-led discussions, oral presentations, enriched literature units, use and evaluation of print and non-print media, STAAR and PSAT preparation, and library and research skills.
