Athletic Trainer II

832210 Athletic Manager/Trainer II 

Prerequisite: Tryout and selection; must meet team guidelines as determined by the trainer. Credit: 1

Students in this class will develop an understanding of the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Trainers will learn wrapping and taping techniques as well as minor and emergency first-aid treatment of various injuries. These student trainers will also work closely with team physicians in the treatment and rehabilitation of various injuries. Student trainers will be expected to work all sports. Students must be committed to outside school hours (Extra-Curricular).This course will also cover the use, quality, and safety of athletic equipment. Students will also learn how to modify equipment to suit specific athletes and or sports. This class is suited for boys or girls interested in athletics, general first-aid, and any health or medical profession. Managers and trainers may become eligible for college scholarships after three to four years of participation in the course.
