APPROACH
Theoretical/project based

The course aims to provide the basic skills for lighting in theatre and events.

This course is made of a single module of 6 CFA credits.

Successful students will be able to:

• Discern different light sources

• Choose the most suitable light sources for a project

• Develop a lighting plan in CAD

• Understand the relation among light, scene, and materials

• Knowledge of different light fixtures, and their use in artistic performances

• Study of light dramaturgy in artistic performances

• Light design project, to be developed through CAD-drawn maps and sections with technical data sheets

• Relation among lights, scene, and materials.

This is a theoretical/project based course.

Over the course, the students will carry out the following didactic activities, which may vary depending on the projects to be developed.

• Front lectures

• Use of tutorials, videos or other multi-media material

• Exercises and revisions

• Laboratories

• Individual or group projects

• Individual or group study and research

Assessment tools may include:

• Oral exam

• Submission of papers, essays or project work
