APPROACH
Theoretical/project based
The course provides the students with a basic method to design dresses starting from moodboard, identification of an event’s theme, and development of sketches. The project goes through all the phases from sampling to manufacture, including the creation of accessories, decoration and jewellery. Particular attention is devoted to the graphic presentation and to the techniques used for the creation of the garments.
This course is made of a single module of 6 CFA credits.
Successful students will be able to:
Analyse and compare the chosen theme with similar examples from different eras/occasions
Design a dress following a given theme
Draw and convey their ideas
Manage different ways to create a dress or a piece of accessory
Identification, definition, and development of a theme
Development of sketches
Fabric sampling
Creation of an accessory, dress, or decoration (consistent with the identified theme)
This is a theoretical/project based course.
Over the course, the students will carry out the following didactic activities, which may vary depending on the projects to be developed.
Front lectures
Use of tutorials, videos or other multi-media material
Exercises and revisions
Laboratories
Individual or group projects
Individual or group study and research
