APPROACH
Theoretical
Through the analysis of the main currents and authors in the history of cinema from its raise until today, this course provides the students with the necessary tools to rediscover the specificity of images, that is learning how to look at what we are no longer able to see.
This course is made of a single module of 6 CFA credits.
Successful students will be able to:
Know the history of cinema
Decode the cinematographic language
Develop a critical attitude towards the audio-visual language
Understand the different techniques and professional figures in the cinema industry
History of cinema from its early days to the contemporary production
Basic notions of cinematographic language and analysis of a film production process
Analysis of given films, to understand the meaning of their technical-linguistic elements
This is a theoretical course.
Over the course, the students will carry out the following didactic activities, which may vary depending on the projects to be developed.
Front lectures
Students engagement in debates, presentations, peer assessment
Use of tutorials, videos or other multi-media material
Exercises and revisions
Individual study and research
Assessment tools may include:
Open-questions written exam
Optional oral exam – for the students who decide not to take the oral exam, the final grade will be that of their written exam
