APPROACH
Theoretical/project based

This course aims at analysing and creating special effects that are outside the boundaries of the use of computers, with the use of latex moulds and professional make-up. Characterisation with the use of special make-up, prostheses, and theatrical masks will be studied in detail.

This course is made of a single module of 6 CFA credits.

Successful students will be able to:

• Sculpt modelling clay and create plaster moulds

• Create many types of impromptu effects: cuts, wounds, burns, bleedings, bruises...

• Analysis of special make-up and theatrical masks for the definition of characters

• Impromptu effects

This is a theoretical/project based course.

Over the course, the students will carry out the following didactic activities, which may vary depending on the projects to be developed.

• Front lectures

• Use of tutorials, videos or other multi-media material

• Exercises and revisions

• Laboratories

• Individual or group projects

• Individual or group study and research

Assessment tools may include:

• Oral exam

• Submission of papers, essays or project work
