APPROACH
Theoretical/project based
This course focuses on live performances direction, and provides basic tools of direction both at a theoretical level, through front lectures, and at a practical one with theatre workshops. Moreover, the course helps the students develop their individual point of view, that mediates with the deepest contemporary needs.
The total credits for this course are 6, divided as follows:

Successful students will be able to:

Understand the director’s creative choices
Be familiar with the theatre workforce and their different roles
Be in control of the administrative side of theatre projects
THEATRE DIRECTION WORKSHOP:
Deal with different professional figures
Understand work dynamics on stage
Understand the need to compromise within work groups
THEATRE DIRECTION:
Analysis of a director’s creative phases, from the abstract impulse to their communication choice
Directing actors
Choosing work teams
Financial sustainability of a project

Meeting different professional figures

The theatre working group
This is a theoretical/project based course.
Over the course, the students will carry out the following didactic activities, which may vary depending on the projects to be developed.
Front lectures
Use of tutorials, videos or other multi-media material
Exercises and revisions
Laboratories
Individual or group projects
Individual or group study and research
Assessment tools may include:
Oral exams
Submission of papers, essays or project work
